Not all journeys to recovery start at a service hub—and that’s where our Outreach Team steps in. Working at the heart of the community, they take support directly to people who might otherwise struggle to access it.
Whether someone is living in a hostel, sleeping rough, or being affected by county lines exploitation or cuckooing, the team is there—offering a lifeline when and where it’s needed most.
With deep connections to local services and hostel providers across Wirral, our outreach workers are embedded in the places where support can have the greatest impact. This approach helps us reach the most vulnerable individuals, break down barriers to treatment, and create real, lasting engagement.
Through fast-track opiate assessments, rapid access to medically assisted treatment, and dedicated wrap-around support, the team ensures no one is left behind. For many, this first contact with our outreach workers is the beginning of a new chapter—one built on trust, respect, and hope.
At the centre of this work is our Outreach Lead, Simon Rimmer, whose leadership and drive continue to inspire both colleagues and those we support. Simon’s commitment to doing what’s right—especially when it’s not easy—sets the tone for everything this team achieves.
To Simon, and to the whole outreach team: thank you. Your compassion, persistence, and person-first approach are changing lives every single day.
