Who are we?
We are a free and confidential drug and alcohol service for adults, young adults, families, carers and affected others across the Wirral. We provide a non-judgemental service, with qualified, experienced staff and volunteers who offer support in health & wellbeing and substance misuse. We can talk to you in several supportive environments, all which have a friendly atmosphere, and provide you with information to help you reduce your substance misuse or to become abstinent.
We are part of Change Grow Live, a national health and social care charity which provides a range of treatment, recovery, and support services for those who have concerns about their drug or alcohol use.

Our goal is to support service users to achieve and maintain their own vision of recovery. We believe that anyone can change their life direction and live life to its full potential. We have a variety of community hubs where our teams are based. We also deliver services out of GP practices and community centres.
Our mission is to help people change the direction of their lives, grow as individuals, and live life to its full potential. The vision we’re working towards is to develop, deliver and share a whole person approach that changes society.
We’re here to help people achieve their goals, to be the best that they can be and to help change society for the better. This is true whether it’s the people who use our services, our staff, or our volunteers. We can’t control everything that affects the people who use our services. However, we are in control of what we do, how we behave and where we focus our expertise, resources, and energy.
Our aim is to work together to challenge stigma and oppression. We want our charity to be a place where our staff and people who use our services are respected and engaged. Ultimately, we want to make life safer, easier, and better for as many people as we can.
Our Services
Substance misuse services
We work with individuals and families affected by drugs and/or alcohol, who wish to stop or reduce their substance misuse and achieve recovery within their local community.
Criminal justice services
We provide therapeutic and treatment services within prisons and the community for people who have been involved with criminal justice services.
Accommodation & homelessness
We work with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to support them to find accommodation and live independently.
Clinical services
We work in partnership with GPs in community settings to administer and manage therapeutic drug treatment for people who need support to overcome addiction.
Families
We provide intensive support for families with complex needs around parenting and antisocial behaviour. We also deliver services for families affected by domestic abuse.
Support groups
We provide a range of support groups for those overcoming addiction. We work with a range of Mutual Aid Partners such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous, SMART Recovery, Recovery Works, and many others to delivery support in a group setting.
Employment & Training
Through our volunteer scheme, we provide professional training and experience for our volunteers, many of whom have gone on to secure jobs within the organisation. We also work with the Growth Company to deliver our Recovery Works programme which provides training, advice and support to service users looking to get back into employment or education.

How we work
Recovery lies at the heart of everything we do. We encourage our service users to plan their own journeys and to rebuild positive social networks and recovery communities. This helps them to develop their confidence and social skills and maintain commitment to change.

My name is Gerry and I am the Service Manager here at Wirral Ways. I help to make sure our service is safe, well run and that our staff feel supported.
My name is Kate and I am a Service User Rep. I support the people who use our service by listening to their views and ideas and bringing that to staff. I help run groups too. I love volunteering with Wirral Ways and giving back to a service that has helped me so much.
My name is Kieran and I’m an Employment Support Worker. I work for Recovery Works who run an Individual Placement Support Programme at Wirral Ways. I help people at all stages of their recovery find meaningful and sustained employment.
My name is Roy and I’m part of our Outreach Team. I support people out and about in the community. This is through working with the hostels, community groups and on the streets. I also lead on our football partnership with Tranmere Rovers.
My name is Dave and I am a group worker at Wirral Ways. I run a range of groups. Some of them are for people that are still using and others are for people further along their journey. Group work helps people to explore themselves more and develop peer support networks.
My name is Julie and I’m a Health Care Assistant. I support people with the health and wellbeing through BBV testing and ECG scans. I also offer safer injecting advise in our Needle & Syringe Programmes.
My name is Chloe and I’m a Young Person’s Outreach Worker. I work in collaboration with Response (the young person service) and Wirral Ways. It’s important that we support people when they’re transitioning from one service to another. I also work closer with Merseyside Police and the County Lines team to support those who are victims of Cuckooing.
My name is Dr Shah. I am the Clinical Lead. I support people accessing our service from a medical perspective. I can prescribe medications and make referrals out to other doctors and medical professionals.
