Wirral Ways is provided by Change Grow Live. Change Grow Live is a UK–based health and social care charity dedicated to supporting individuals facing challenges related to drugs and alcohol, housing, justice, health, and wellbeing. Their mission is to help people change the direction of their lives, grow as individuals, and live life to its full potential. They offer a range of services, including substance misuse treatment, housing assistance, mental health support, and programs for young people and families. Emphasising a person–centered approach, Change Grow Live collaborates with individuals to develop tailored support plans, aiming to empower them to make positive life changes.

Nightingales Recovery CIC
Nightingales Recovery Café CIC is a community interest company based in Birkenhead, Merseyside, dedicated to supporting individuals recovering from drug and alcohol misuse. Established in June 2019, the café offers a welcoming environment where people can access affordable food, helpful advice, and participate in various groups and activities aimed at promoting health and wellbeing.

Project ADDER
Project ADDER (Addiction, Diversion, Disruption, Enforcement, and Recovery) was a UK Home Office initiative running from late 2020 to March 2025. It aimed to reduce drug–related crime and deaths by combining targeted law enforcement with enhanced treatment and recovery services in 13 areas across England and Wales.

Spider Project
Spider Project is a community-based recovery organisation that offers creative and therapeutic activities to support individuals recovering from substance misuse and mental health issues. Their programs include art, music, drama, and mindfulness, aiming to enhance wellbeing and promote social inclusion. By providing a supportive environment, Spider Project Wirral empowers members to build confidence, develop new skills, and maintain long-term recovery.

Cocaine Anonymous (CA)
Cocaine Anonymous (CA) is a 12-step fellowship supporting people recovering from cocaine and other drug addictions. Open to anyone seeking help, CA offers regular meetings and peer support in a confidential, non-judgmental environment. CA UK runs both in-person and online meetings across the country.

Sahir (House)
Sahir (House) is the Liverpool City Region’s oldest and largest LGBTQ+ and HIV charity, dedicated to supporting individuals and communities since 1985. They offer a range of services, including support for people living with HIV, LGBTQ+ health and well-being programs, assistance for LGBTQ+ refugees and asylum seekers, counseling, and sexual health services.
Sahir (House) and Wirral Ways have partnered to offer free, confidential HIV and STI testing services in the Wirral area. This collaboration aims to increase accessibility to sexual health services and promote early detection and treatment.

Drug Talk
Drug Talk is a digital platform developed by Wirral Multicultural Organisation (WMO) to provide accessible drug and alcohol information for ethnic minority communities in Wirral. The website offers culturally sensitive advice on various substances, their health risks, and legal implications. A key feature is the ‘Recite’ tool, enabling content translation into over 100 languages to accommodate non-English speakers. Co-designed with local ethnic minority residents and organisations, Drug Talk aims to overcome barriers such as language difficulties and lack of awareness about local services, ensuring that all community members have access to vital health information.

Wirral University Teaching Hospital
Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (WUTH) provides acute hospital services across the Wirral, primarily from Arrowe Park Hospital and Clatterbridge Hospital. It also manages the Wirral Women and Children’s Hospital, offering specialist maternity, gynaecology and paediatric care. As a teaching hospital, WUTH is affiliated with the University of Liverpool and plays a key role in training future healthcare professionals while delivering a wide range of services to the local community.

Forum Housing
Forum Housing Association is dedicated to providing accommodation and support services for young people aged 16 to 25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. They offer various housing projects, including supported living schemes, to help young individuals develop the skills and confidence needed for independent living. Forum Housing focuses on creating a supportive environment that promotes personal growth and wellbeing.

Wirral Mind
Wirral Mind is a mental health charity based in Wirral, dedicated to supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges. They offer a variety of services aimed at promoting mental wellbeing and providing assistance to those in need.
A key initiative by Wirral Mind is the Lived Experience Network (LEN) for Substance Misuse. This network is designed for individuals who have personal experience with drug or alcohol misuse, whether past or ongoing. The primary goal of the LEN is to ensure that these individuals have a voice in shaping and influencing local prevention and recovery services. By sharing their insights and experiences, members contribute to the development of more effective and responsive support systems within the community.

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership
Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) is a healthcare provider delivering a range of services, including mental health, learning disability, and community physical health care. Established in 2002 and achieving Foundation Trust status in 2007, CWP operates across Cheshire and Wirral, as well as in areas such as Trafford, Warrington, Bolton, Halton, and Liverpool. CWP is committed to person-centered care, working closely with service users, their families, and partner organisations to ensure high-quality, integrated services.

HM Prison & Probation Service
His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) manages prisons and probation services across England and Wales. It oversees the secure detention of offenders, supports rehabilitation through education and training, and supervises individuals in the community to reduce reoffending and promote safer communities. We work collaboratively with prisons and probation services to support with continuity of care, treatment orders and community orders.

Wirral Council
Wirral Council is the local authority responsible for governing the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral in Merseyside, England. As part of its commitment to public health and community wellbeing, the council commissions various services to support residents. One such service is Wirral Ways, a free and confidential program established in 2015 to assist individuals affected by drug or alcohol misuse.

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is a global, non-profit fellowship for anyone recovering from drug addiction, regardless of the substance. Recovery Works
Recovery Works is part of the The Growth Company, a charity that supports over 1,000 vulnerable individuals annually across Northern England. They assist those facing challenges like addiction, mental health issues, and criminal convictions by providing services such as employment assistance, individual placement support and training. Their approach focuses on building confidence and promoting positive behavioural changes to help clients overcome barriers and realise their potential.

Merseyside Police
Merseyside Police collaborates with Wirral Ways to support individuals affected by drug and alcohol misuse. Through initiatives like Project ADDER, launched in January 2021, they combine law enforcement with treatment and recovery services to reduce drug-related harm. Officers refer individuals to Wirral Ways for support, aiming to prevent reoffending and promote recovery. This partnership has led to a significant increase in referrals to support agencies, demonstrating their joint commitment to community wellbeing. Wirral Ways and Merseyside Police also work collaboratively to help tackle cuckooing and support the victims.

Citizens Advice Wirral
Citizens Advice Wirral is a local charity offering free, confidential, and impartial advice to residents of the Wirral area. Affiliated with the national Citizens Advice network, they assist individuals with issues such as debt, benefits, employment, housing, and consumer rights. Their services aim to empower people to resolve problems and improve their lives. They run various drop-ins across our hubs.

Turning Point is a national health and social care charity supporting people with challenges related to substance misuse, mental health, and learning disabilities. They offer confidential services including detox, rehab, needle exchange, and support, aiming to help individuals make lasting positive changes. Intuitive Thinking Skills is a national peer-led organisation established in 2005, specialising in attitude and behaviour change programmes. They offer mentoring and accredited courses designed and delivered by individuals with lived experience who have overcome personal challenges. Their services aim to empower individuals by changing mindsets, building personal resilience, and promoting true independence. Intuitive Thinking Skills collaborates with existing treatment providers, employment services, criminal justice systems, and educational institutions to deliver their innovative programmes in communities, prisons, schools, and through digital platforms.

3D Training
Three Dimensional Training Limited is an independent learning provider based in Birkenhead, Wirral, offering flexible and creative accredited training and qualifications. They cater to learners aged 19 and over, providing free courses for those who are unemployed or earning under £25,000.

Response
Response is Wirral Council’s young person’s drug and alcohol service. It offers confidential support to young people aged 13 to 24 who are affected by substance use, as well as emotional well-being support for those aged 13 to 18. Based in Birkenhead, the service provides counselling, harm reduction advice, and a drop-in space for young people to talk and access help. Response is focused on early intervention and empowering young people to make positive, informed choices.

Hafan Wen is a detoxification centre located in Wrexham, North Wales, providing services for both NHS and private clients. Tomorrow’s Women is a charity based in Birkenhead, Wirral, dedicated to supporting women aged 18 and over, as well as young women aged 14-17, across Wirral, Chester, and Cheshire West. The organisation focuses on minimising female imprisonment and offending by addressing personal, social, health, and economic challenges. Tranmere Rovers In The Community
Tranmere Rovers In The Community is the charitable arm of Tranmere Rovers Football Club, dedicated to delivering a range of community-focused programs across the Wirral. Their initiatives aim to promote health, education, and social inclusion through the power of sport.
In partnership with Wirral Ways, they offer bi-weekly football sessions at Tranmere Rovers FC. These sessions provide individuals recovering from substance misuse with opportunities to engage in physical activity, build confidence, and foster social connections, supporting their journey towards recovery.

Cheshire & Merseyside Public Health Collaborative
The Cheshire & Merseyside Public Health Collaborative, also known as Champs Public Health Collaborative, is a partnership of nine local public health teams working together to improve health and wellbeing across the Cheshire and Merseyside region. They focus on collaborative efforts to address public health challenges and reduce health inequalities in the area.

Phoenix Futures
Phoenix Futures is a UK–based charity dedicated to supporting individuals, families, and communities affected by drug and alcohol problems. They offer a range of services, including residential rehabilitation, community–based recovery programs, and specialist support for unique groups such as those involved in the criminal justice system. Their approach integrates therapeutic interventions with practical support, aiming to help individuals achieve long–term recovery and improve their overall well–being. Phoenix Futures operates across various regions in the UK, providing tailored services to meet the diverse needs of the communities they serve.

Kaleidoscope
Kaleidoscope is a charity that provides support and treatment services for individuals affected by substance misuse. They offer a range of programs aimed at assisting people in their recovery journey, including harm reduction initiatives, counselling, and community-based support. Kaleidoscope operates in various regions, delivering tailored services to meet the needs of local communities. Kaleidoscope is part of the North West In-Patient Detox Consortium.

Birchwood
Birchwood Residential Treatment Centre, located in Heswall, Wirral, is a 25-bed facility operated by Kaleidoscope, a charity providing substance misuse treatment services since 1968. The centre offers medically managed inpatient detoxification and rehabilitation programs for individuals dealing with drug and alcohol dependencies. Their comprehensive approach includes clinical detox therapies, therapeutic group activities, one-on-one counselling, and support for mental health and complex health needs. Birchwood emphasises building self-worth and confidence, providing access to education, and involving families and carers in the recovery process. Birchwood is part of the North West In-Patient Detox Consortium.

Office for Health Improvement & Disparities
The Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) is part of the UK Department of Health and Social Care, responsible for improving public health and tackling health inequalities. OHID provides national leadership, funding, and evidence-based guidance to support local authorities in delivering effective services. It works to reduce drug-related harm, improve recovery outcomes, and ensure access to quality treatment across communities—continuing the work previously led by Public Health England.
